NIHL: The Top Disability Amongst U.S. and U.K. Military Personnel

Noise-induced hearing loss is the top disability amongst U.S. military personnel returning from active combat. More than two-thirds of U.K. troops are returning from Afghanistan have suffer from it, too.

More than 94,000 American military personnel who served in Iraq, Afghanistan collect disability for tinnitus. Over 78,000 Veterans are on disability for hearing loss.

In a new HearForever video interview, Theresa Y. Schulz, PhD., Lt. Col. USAF (ret.) talks about the prevalence of hearing loss amongst troops, and new technologies that both protect soldiers from hazardous noise and increase their situational awareness in combat environments.
